Original story (published on January 11, 2020) follows:

The Mi MIX lineup is a playground for Xiaomi. The Chinese OEM loves to present revolutionary concepts to the regular consumer markets with flagship specs via MIX family of phones. Be it 5G support (Mi MIX 3 5G) or sci-fi class flexible display (Mi MIX Alpha), Xiaomi has them covered.

Under the groundbreaking decoration, they usually share internal hardware components with the regular Xiaomi flagship of the same year. The original Mi MIX was pretty similar to Mi 6, while Mi MIX 2S and Mi MIX 3 are closely related to Mi 8.

As a consequence, both Mi MIX 2S and Mi 8 received the first taste of Android 10 together back in October 2019. Stable version of MIUI 11 landed on MIX 2S a few days later, but the underlying Android layer was based on Pie.

Xiaomi published a combined Android 10 kernel source code in late December that hinted about the arrival of the stable update. From the bucket, Mi MIX 3 secured the stable version first, followed by Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro earlier this week.

Interestingly, Pocophone F1 is part of the same family, but there is no concrete ETA about the Android 10 update for the sensation till date. Guess Xiaomi is pretty much done with their internal quality testing, as Mi MIX 2S has now picked up the stable OTA.

At the time of writing this article, the update is rolling out in China to a small number of MIX 2S owners. It is possible to cross-flash the build (V11.0.1.0.QDGCNXM) on global variant, but there are plenty of limitations.

Fortunately, xiaomi.eu maintainers have already incorporated the necessary changes and compiled a package (mirror) that can be flashed via TWRP. An unlocked bootloader is the only prerequisite here. The complete changelog of the update is as follows:

System

– Stable MIUI based on Android 10
– Updated Android Security Patch to December 2019. Increased system security.

Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade

– Fix: Couldn’t open notification settings in the Notification shade in Second space

Data usage
