New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 20, 2019) follows:

When the stable MIUI 11 update for the Pocophone F1 aka Poco F1 (in India) started rolling out, hopes were high that it would include the update to Android 10 operating system.

As we’ve all come to find out, Xiaomi had other ideas. Instead, the company went with the older Android Pie at the heart of the MIUI 11 update but still promised to work on the Poco F1 Android 10 update.

A month later, a company executive revealed that the update to Android 10 for the Pocophone F1 was under development and that it would be available soon. This statement came shortly after the Russian Pocophone F1 picked up the stable MIUI 11 update.

As soon as the Mi 8 Android 10 update started rolling out, we knew that the Poco F1 Android 10 update isn’t too far away. This is because the Mi 8 shares the same kernel source as the Poco F1.

To further ascertain this hunch, Xiaomi has now published the official Android 10 kernel source for the Poco F1 on GitHub, all but confirming the imminent arrival of the OS on this device. The changes, as expected, followed in the footsteps of the Mi 8 Android 10 update.

As for when the Poco F1 Android 10 update will arrive, we can’t really tell. But of course, we are now a step closer to the stable rollout.

Redmi Note 8T kernel source also goes live

Even though the Redmi Note 8T is also in line to receive the update to Android 10, the newly published kernel source is still based on Android 9 Pie. This opens the door for developers to do their thing on the handset and we hope the issues affecting the Note 8 Pro won’t be felt here.
