The wait for the big Poco Launcher 3.0 update is still on. No one knows when exactly this update can be expected, but we can tell you for sure that it is getting closer with each passing day.

Some of the features the Poco Launcher 3.0 update is expected to bring to supported devices include control center gestures, complete implementation of full screen gestures, navigation bar, and a new process manager.

It has been revealed before that once the Poco Launcher 3.0 update becomes available, eligible devices will bag it via the Google Play Store.

Reports from late last year suggested that the Poco Launcher 3.0 update would be made available in Q4 2020 after internal testing is complete. But as we all know, this never materialized.

Poco Launcher 3.0 based on MiUi 12 is currently on developmental stage and is expected to release in Q4 of 2020. Here's a sample. from PocoPhones

Even more interesting is that as frustrations continue to pile up among the Poco Launcher faithful, not everyone using the launcher wants it on their phone.

Instead, some prefer the default system launcher used on other Xiaomi phones. This is not just out of sheer love for the default launcher, but also due to the stability issues in the Poco Launcher.

To fix some of these annoying issues, Poco runs a beta program for the Poco Launcher that gets regular updates, tagging along some needed stability optimizations alongside new features from time to time.

In the latest edition that installs v2.20.1.10 of the beta app, the Poco Launcher has gained a new feature – support for overlapping app icons, as seen in the screenshot below.

Definitely not a game-changing addition to the latest Poco Launcher version, but it is great to see that Poco is still working to add new features as well as address existing issues.

Speaking of, the changelog does mention bug fixes, but there are no specifics. There is also the mention of performance optimizations meant to improve the fluency of the launcher, but again, no details on this.

1. We fixed some bugs in this version
2. Optimize performance and improve the fluency.

Since this is a beta release, not everyone using the launcher will be receiving it. Instead, interested parties will have to take the manual route in order to try the new overlapping app icons feature.

You can grab the APK from the APK Mirror website here and install the app manually on your phone. Do let us know in your comments below the type of experience you have with the app.
