The Poco Launcher was first introduced alongside the Poco F1 which brought along several new changes that many users were seeking at the time.

Since its initial release, Xiaomi, or rather Poco, has pushed several updates to improve the launcher. About a year ago, we checked out the Poco Launcher 2.0 update that brought a few changes and improvements.

And recently, we reported that the next big update for the Poco Launcher is already under development which will be dubbed as Poco Launcher 3.0.

One major new change that users are looking forward to is the new MIUI 12 animations that Poco has confirmed will be baked into Poco Launcher 3.0. Of course, there are a few other improvements that we expect to see.

Unfortunately, it’s been a few months since the development reportedly began but there are still no signs of the Poco Launcher 3.0 update. Several users (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) have taken to social platforms such as Twitter to ask Xiaomi what’s the hold-up.

Poco has not yet confirmed a specific date for the release of Poco Launcher 3.0. Thus, users who are looking forward to Poco’s upcoming homescreen launcher may have to continue their wait. But it appears not all users are in the same camp.

Many individuals are frustrated with the Poco Launcher and have also taken to Twitter to express their opinions regarding the launcher. Some users simply want the default MIUI 12 launcher on their devices.

More specifically, Redmi K20 series users want the existing Poco Launcher to be replaced. We’ve added a few tweets from such users below:

First remove poco launcher from redmi phones (Source)

@MIUI_India please include the default system launcher in my #RedmiK20PRO atleast in the next update i think all are not like the poco launcher, it’s too annoying (Source)

Poco launcher team only care about poco device. They don’t care about other devices I can’t why poco launcher is pre-installed in redmi phone… (Source)

As it turns out, users who want the Poco Launcher to be replaced with the standard MIUI 12 launcher simply want a better experience than what they are getting.

According to users, the Poco Launcher is riddled with bugs and the promised Poco Launcher 3.0 update is taking way longer than expected. Thus, it’s easy to see why many individuals are frustrated.

No one would want to have a bad experience using a device right on the homescreen, right?

Unfortunately, Redmi K20 series users will have to deal with the problem until the new update arrives or Xiaomi replaces Poco Launcher with the stock MIUI 12 alternative.

Feel free to share your thoughts regarding the Poco Launcher on Redmi-branded phones below. That said, you may want to keep an eye out on our dedicated tracker for the rollout of Android 11 on all Xiaomi phones.
