Xiaomi has updated over 25 devices to the latest MIUI 11 custom skin. While some of these updates included overhauls to the underlying OS, others came without any changes to the base software.

The Redmi 8, Redmi 8A and Redmi 7, for instance, picked up their MIUI 11 updates without changes to the base OS. The trio has Android Pie running the show out of the box and it is the OS that continues to power them to date.

Of course, Xiaomi is expected to update both of them to the newer Android 10, but the wait could take several more months before the OTA arrives. Until then, though, all three devices should keep receiving regular security and feature updates, like its happening now.

Redmi 8 MIUI 11 update

Owners of the Redmi 8 in Europe are receiving an MIUI 11 update that bumps the software version to 11.0.2.0.PCNEUXM. The file size is 436MB, which implies there is more than just an updated security patch to this firmware.

Below is a summary of the changes as provided by Xiaomi:

System

  • Updated Android Security Patch to December 2019. Increased system security.

Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade

  • Fix: Couldn’t open notification settings in the Notification shade in Second space

Other

  • Fix: Images overlapped in scrolling screenshots

Rather than wait for the OTA, you can download the new firmware V11.0.2.0.PCNEUXM and install it right away on your European variant of the Redmi 8.

Redmi 8A MIUI 11 update

As far as the Redmi 8A is concerned, the new December security patch is not only available for the European model but also the global variant as well. The changes, as you’d expect, are identical, but the firmware version isn’t.

Where those on the EU firmware will get the OTA as version V11.0.2.0.PCPEUXM, the global models will receive the same update as version V11.0.3.0.PCPMIXM. The changes are not identical for both regions, but also to the Redmi 8 changelog.

Redmi 7 MIUI 11 update

Coming to the Redmi 7, the update is arriving as version 11.0.4.0.PFLEUXM and weighs in at 483MB, which, once again, suggests the update brings more than the latest security patch.

Below is a summary of the changelog:
