New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 25, 2020) follows:
Ever since the launch of the Voice over WiFi calling or the VoWiFi services by two major network providers i.e. Jio and Airtel in India, users are pretty excited to use this feature on their smartphones.
Although a lot of smartphone brands are already supporting this feature or are listed under the network providers VoWiFi listings, there are some popular brands that are still missing out.
One of the major brands is Huawei (as well as their sub-brand Honor). In fact, when we checked the VoWiFi listings of both Airtel and Jio, we found that Huawei and Honor devices are yet to be whitelisted.
Users of various Huawei and Honor smartphones took to Twitter to share their complaints regarding this issue. Besides, the official Twitter accounts of Huawei and Honor also came up with their responses.
@HiHonorIndia Do Honor 10 lite is eligible for wi-fi calling??
@HiHonorIndia why honor devices does not support WiFi Calling in India???
@HuaweiIndia @airtelindia @HuaweiCentral @Airtel_Presence Do you please mind to include Huawei Flagships like #Mate20Pro and #P30Pro in your approved list of handsets for WiFi calling?
In fact, there were other several queries to which Honor and Huawei have responded. And by taking a look at the responses it seems that although the software supports VoWiFi in some of the phones, none of them are whitelisted by Airtel or Jio for some reason.
Besides, PiunikaWeb reader should know that we have previously reported that there are some devices like the Honor View 10 which will officially not support this feature.
Interestingly, not only Huawei or Honor devices but quite a few Xiaomi devices (Mi A3, Mi A2 (Lite), & Mi A1) also do not support this feature for which the smartphone OEM is to be blamed.
We will have to wait and watch how Huawei and Honor come up with a fix for this issue either via a new update just like Realme, which will push a new update for VoWiFi support for a lot of Realme devices or following some other method.
Update (February, 27)
