Poco F2e is the latest Pocophone to stop by Geekbench, probably a fake?

The Pocophone F2 (Poco F2) story has been – and probably still is – long and painful. Those who have been looking forward to upgrading from the original Poco F1 were dealt a blow when 2019 ended without the device’s successor in sight.

All that dominated major publications were rumors about the device and nothing concrete. Sure, the company has suggested on a couple of occasions that it isn’t about to close business, but with no Poco F2 to date, it’s hard to believe that.

Naturally, rumors about the Pocophone F2 are still ongoing and matter of fact, they seem to have just gained momentum. Not long ago, the device was reportedly trademarked in China.

While this doesn’t guarantee that the Poco F2 is indeed coming, it’s the first major hint that the device could be in the works. Yesterday, we reported another possible instance of the Poco F2, this time through benchmarking platform Geekbench.

However, the device, which was listed as Poco X2, is alleged to be the Redmi K30 4G, which makes the Poco X2/Poco F2 benchmarks fake. A custom ROM developer is likely behind the Poco X2 name thanks to a few modifications to system build properties.

In another related incidence, a certain Poco F2e has now been benchmarked on the same Geekbench, but like the Poco X2, there is no way to verify that this is indeed an unreleased device.

As noted, one can easily modify a few system build properties and assign an existing device a name like Poco F2e or Poco X2 and then run it through Geekbench. Could this be one of those few times? No one knows. There is a good read on this over at XDA Developers.

As per the benchmark, the Poco F2e has a Snapdragon 845 chipset allied to 8GB RAM while Android 10 runs the show. FYI, the Poco F1, which has the same Snapdragon 845, hasn’t picked up the update to Android 10.

Interestingly, though, the benchmark scores of the Poco F2e are pretty much identical to Poco F1 scores on Geekbench, but this could be because of the same chipset and RAM.
