New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 14, 2020) follows:
The Pocophone F1, known in India as Poco F1, should have received the stable update to Android 10 by now, at least if the speed of rolling out software updates in the device’s early days is anything to go by.
The fact that the Poco F1 is the brand’s only device in a period of one and a half years should have given the company enough time to work on the Poco F1 Android 10 update, but here we are.
In late November 2019, head of Pocophone Global revealed that the company was already working on the update to Android 10 for the device. Indeed, three weeks later, the device’s Android 10 kernel source went live, adding more weight to the previous development.
Speaking of kernel sources, all other Xiaomi devices that share common kernel sources with the Poco F1 have already received the stable update to Android 10, namely Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro, Mi MIX 2S, and Mi MIX 3.
This, by all means, is a strong indicator that the Poco F1 Android 10 update isn’t too far away.
The stable Poco F1 MIUI 11 update included October security patch and with January security patches already rolling out to various devices, it means the device is now over two months off the pace.
But according to the company, this shouldn’t worry Poco F1 owners because the update to Android 10 will bundle all of the missed improvements since the release of the MIUI 11 update. If anything, this should be the next update the device gets, but we can’t tell you when.
A few days ago, Xiaomi locked out the Poco F1 from its Mi Pilot program that is meant to carry out early tests on stable MIUI updates before rolling out widely. This was done because enough Pocophones were already in the program, so it shouldn’t be a major concern.
