Nokia is definitely having its best time in the smartphone market, especially after it went ahead with the manufacturing of Android-powered smartphones.

Thanks to the Finnish company HMD Global for taking over the proceedings, the smartphone brand is now one of the respectable brands in the Android smartphone market today.

Nokia has also been on top of its game when it comes to pushing the latest security or firmware updates and recently it has upgraded quite a few of its devices, like Nokia 6.1, 6.1 Plus, and Nokia 7 Plus to the latest Android 10.

But what might come as a surprise to some, is that according to user reports, the above mentioned Nokia devices do not support WiFi calling feature even on Android 10.

For naive, network operators in India like Jio and Airtel have recently expanded the Voice Over WiFi services (VoWiFi) for several cities. This allows users to make free domestic WiFi calls.

And if we go by user reports on Twitter, WiFi calling feature is not yet available for the Nokia devices. You can check out the tweets below:

Moreover, several users on the Nokia community platform have also come up with the same issues that do not allow their phones to use this VoWiFi calling feature in India.

It’s Really Unexpected To See That There Is No Support For Wi-Fi Calling on Android 10 For Nokia 7 Plus. I’m Using It Already On Asus Device (Custom ROM-Pixel Experience). It’s Not Really Acceptable From HMD. Kindly Add Support For Wi-Fi Calling In Next OTA Update. Eagerly Waiting To Use It On My Default Device.

Making the situation worse is that, when we checked for the compatible devices list for using the VoWiFi feature on both Jio and Airtel network’s official website, it turns out that Nokia phones are not listed under either carrier’s supported devices list.

In fact, a similar issue surfaced for the OnePlus smartphone where some users were not able to use the VoWiFi on the Jio network while somewhere able to use it using a small trick.

Since there is no official clarification from either of the network providers or from Nokia, we have to wait and watch any further developments in this regard.
