Back in the previous year, Nokia has been one of the consistent smartphone brands that attained top position when it comes to pushing out timely security and firmware updates.
Though there were some times where Samsung outperformed every OEM and pushed the December 2019 security updates faster than even Google itself.
However, Nokia caught up with the pace and delivered the December patchset to several devices. And in recent development, two Nokia devices i.e. Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 9 PureView have been served with new updates.
Reportedly, both the devices are grabbing the December 2019 security patchset. Note that Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 9 PureView have already been upgraded to Android 10 across the globe but with November 2019 security patch.
Now, this new incremental update bumps the security patch level from November to December 2019. Let us take a look at the updates received on both the devices one by one:
Nokia 7.1
Nokia 7.1 was launched back in October 2018, and packs in some decent specs like Snapdragon 636, 3/4 GB of RAM, offers up to 64 GB of onboard storage, a 5.84-inch display, 3,060 mAh battery, etc.
Cut to now, the new update arrives with the version number V4.08C and weighs in around a minuscule 18.3 MB in size and tags along with the December 2019 patch. Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of update prompt:
What’s New:
– Google Security Patch 2019-12
However, looking at the discussion on Reddit, this update still fails to address the WiFi, call and mic issues on the device. The update is being pushed via OTA but, you can upgrade your Nokia 7.1 by grabbing the zip file from below:

The update is arriving via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting all the units. Moreover, at the time of writing this post, we do not have the download link of the incremental OTA package. We will update this article as soon as we have the download link with us.
