Xiaomi surprises Mi A3 users with a second August update

Google introduced Android One platform for users to secure the fastest updates. Manufacturers are not allowed to alter the platform, but are obliged to provide the users with regular security patches for three years and Android OS updates for two years.

Ventured out first in India with Spice Dream UNO, Android One focused only on entry level models in the beginning. After fruitless collaborations with Karbonn, Micromax, Spice, and various other companies, the platform gained momentum with Xiaomi Mi A1 in 2017.

While retaining a hefty portfolio of devices running on MIUI, Xiaomi comes up with a new ‘A’ series device each year. And, deliver regular security patches too. Mi A3, company’s latest offering, astonished gadget enthusiasts by bagging August security patch before the official launch.

However, even the hardcore Xiaomi fans felt exasperated by their surprise move to downgrade the display resolution to HD+ on the device. Well, here comes the next surprise. They have rolled out a second August security update!

Security patches are bound to safeguard smartphones. In the beginning of every month, Google releases an array of vulnerabilities so that brands can issue updates to fix them. Mi A3 already got August OTA a week ago.

No, they are not bringing any particular feature or fix with the new update (Samsung recently released two consecutive packages to M30- one with security patch and the other with camera fixes). Weighing 57.3 MB (subject to change), it carries build PKQ1.190416.001.V10.3.5.0PFQMIXM.

Fortify your Android One phone with the August 2019 security update from Google, which improves security and fixes bugs. This update improves the stability of your device and optimizes its performance.

See? No fancy features! From what we have known, the update started rolling out for the EU variants. We can’t guarantee the arrival of this overhaul to the global version because they already issued one. In case they are planning to let it out, you won’t have to wait for long.
