Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India (aka Redmi 5 Plus in China and globally) is the OEM’s last year’s mid ranger device fueled with Snapdragon 625 chipset. The phone originally shipped with Android 7.1.2 Nougat and was later upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo.
Recently the device even got to taste Android 9.0 Pie (MIUI 10.3.1.PEICNXM), but only on the Chinese variants. But as we highlighted in one of our coverages, the patch ended up bricking the Chinese units running global MIUI.
Cut to now. While Redmi Note 5 users in regions other than China are gawking Android 9.0 Pie, the units are receiving a new monthly security update. The update weighs about 1.4GB and bumps the version to MIUI 10.2.3.0.OEGMIXM.
The update brings along June security patch and fixes an issue where contacts couldn’t be deleted from SIM card. Here’s what the complete changelog reads:

HTC U19e gets updates
Moving on, HTC U19e, the Taiwanese company HTC’s this year’s mid-ranger device powered by Snapdragon 710 is also receiving a new update. For a quick refresher the phone is shipped with Android 9.0 Pie layered with the company’s customized skin HTC Sense.
The currently rolling out update (weight ~120MB) bumps the version to 1.00.709.19. The patch is a performance enhancement update and also improves camera. Here’s what the update’s official announcement reads (translated):
