It goes without saying that the Chinese OEM Xiaomi is pretty swift when it comes to firmware updates, despite their huge lineup of smartphones. Just recently, Redmi Note 5 (aka Redmi 5 Plus in China and globally) – the company’s 2018 mid-range phone – received the June security patch.

While device users await Android Pie, the monthly security update (~1.4GB) on Redmi Note 5 bumped the version to MIUI 10.2.3.0. Additionally, it also fixed a SIM card contacts-related glitch.

And now, it has come to our notice that Xiaomi has released the June security update for Redmi 7 devices in India as well. Redmi 7, for a quick refresher, is the OEM’s current year mid-ranger phone fueled by a Snapdragon 632 processor. It possesses Android Pie layered with MIUI 9.0.

The update on Redmi 7 is quite similar to the one rolled on Redmi Note 5, but with some additions.

The patch (500MB+) bumps the version from MIUI 10.3.2.0.PFLINXM to MIUI V10.3.3.0.PFLINXM. Apart from an updated security patch, it fixes the SIM card-related bug where contacts couldn’t be deleted and another problem where media volume wasn’t restored after getting a notification.

As for new additions, the update adds a customizable lock screen clock, a feature that other Xiaomi phones like Redmi K20 Pro, Pocophone F1 and Mi Mix 2S recently got through updates.

Here’s what the complete update changelog reads:

[System]
Optimization: Updated Android Security Patch to June 2019. Increased system security.

[Contacts]
Fix: Contacts couldn’t be deleted from SIM cards in some cases

[Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade]
