Xiaomi started beta testing Android 9 Pie on several Mi TVs in late June 2019. But when the stable Pie update started rolling out in late August, only the Mi TV 4A Pro and Mi TV 4C Pro got the nod, with the company promising to bring the OS to more Mi TVs across September going forward.
Last month, another Mi TV picked up the update to Android 9 Pie, this time the 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro, but there was no mention of when the same update would be made available for those using the 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 4A units.
When asked by a concerned Mi TV 4A (43) owner about the release date of Android Pie for the smart TV, the company pointed out that the delay was due to unexpected issues they encountered when testing the Pie build.
From the look of things, Xiaomi has overcome the setback in the Mi TV 4A Android Pie build and now a stable version is available to download for both the 32-inch and 43-inch models in India.
In a tweet, Mi TV India notes that on top of Android Pie, the two Mi TV 4A units will also get built-in Chromecast, Data Saver, YouTube, Play Store, Play Movies, & much more.
Mi fans, #MiTV 4A 32 & 43 users, here’s something you have been waiting for. We’re rolling out the latest #AndroidTV 9.0 update along with Chromecast built-in, Data Saver, YouTube, Play Store, Play Movies, & much more.
Mi TV 4A (32-inch and 43-inch) owners are quite pessimistic about this announcement, especially considering the duration it has taken since the beta testing kicked in. Also, the fact that reports of actual people who have received the update are limited doesn’t help Xiaomi’s case either.
Still, we do have a tweep who says their 43-inch Mi TV 4A has actually received the update to Android Pie. Going by the screengrab shared, the update is arriving as version 9.11.19.
Rolling out major Android OS updates could take days or even weeks before all units receive the download notification. With this in mind, not every owner of a 32-inch or 43-inch Mi TV 4A will receive Android Pie today. Some may have to wait for several days or weeks for that matter.
