[Official] Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro/Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi Note 7/7S, & Note 7 Pro gain ARCore support

Gone are the days when Augmented Reality (AR) enthusiasts needed a Google Pixel smartphone to get going with ARCore, Google’s platform for building AR experiences.

The search giant now works with multiple OEMs to bring AR to smartphones ranging from the high-end to the very bottom-end of the spectrum. Unlike a while ago, today you can easily come across sub-$250 smartphones with ARCore support, which is pretty impressive.

But you know what is even more impressive? Well, ARCore support is coming to even much cheaper smartphones in the shape of Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Instead of only having the $1000 smartphones take advantage of ARCore, Google hopes that partnering with the likes of Xiaomi’s Redmi will spur the mainstream adoption of AR without the need of draining people’s bank accounts.

Google hasn’t included the Redmi Note 7 series in the newly updated list of ARCore supported devices on its website. However, we have reports from users of these devices who have actually downloaded and installed the Google Play Services for AR app directly from the Play Store.

Just found out that ARCore is now supported on Violet.

FYI, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is codenamed “violet”, which shouldn’t be strange to Xiaomi fans.

While reacting to our earlier post on Redmi K20 (Xiaomi Mi 9T) support for ARCore, one tweep (Ravi T) also tipped us about ARCore support on other devices in the Redmi Note 7 series.

Even redmi note 7, note 7s and note 7 pro has also got support for the same ..and it is fantastic….working great in google camera…i tested it out and it was superb.

Also receiving ARCore support is the Redmi K20 Pro, which goes by the name Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in markets outside India. It’s the phone everyone wants to have owing to the quality it packs vis-a-vis the price. And things are getting even much better with ARCore support.

Like the Redmi Note 7, though, the Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro hasn’t been added to the updated list of ARCore compatible devices. However, we have actual news coming from Xiaomi confirming that ARCore support is now available for the Mi 9T Pro.

FYI, Google updated this list about week ago and it happens regularly, so it shouldn’t be long before the new devices show up on Google’s website.

Google has updated the official ARCore supported device page, and listed these phones as compatible.
