Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro were made official a few days ago in the home country of China. The duo was also expected to grace the Mobile World Congress 2020 show in Barcelona later this month, but the entire event has been called off due to fears of the coronavirus outbreak.

Both the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro pack massive 108MP f/1.7 cameras on the back to match the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s megapixel count, a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processors and 30W fast charging.

As you may have guessed, the Pro is the more impressive variant thanks to extras like a pair of telephoto lenses with 2x and 5x zoom capabilities and up to 50W fast charging, but this happens on a slightly smaller 4500mAh battery compared to the 4780mAh battery on the Mi 10.

As expected, both phones run on the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 11 skin on top. Xiaomi didn’t waste time following the launch of the duo, quickly following it up with kernel source code and first downloadable MIUI 11 ROMs.

Even before the dust settles, Xiaomi is also making its Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro development plans known to the public, at least for folks in China. Apparently, owners of the standard Mi 10 willing to hop onto the MIUI Beta program can do so beginning today, February 17.

Next Friday, February 24, the Mi 10 Pro will also get the nod into MIUI 11 beta program. For whatever reason, Xiaomi is keeping the rollout dates for the duo’s MIUI 11 beta update a week apart.

The MIUI 11 beta program is meant to grant Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro owners a chance to try out new software updates and features well ahead of others. Unfortunately, this software is usually buggy and sometimes annoying to use as a daily driver, so be sure you really want it.

A techy. Besides phones, I also enjoy the farm, music, football, and, of course, food.
