Android is the most popular operating system in the world. The intrusion of smartphones into our daily life has made the mobile platform prevalent. Owing to the reluctance to embrace Android, we saw Nokia fading into the oblivion once.
Have you ever wondered what makes it so captivating? In comparison with Apple’s iOS, Android is customisable to a great extent. Meaning, the developers don’t impose their choices onto the users. Moreover, one can change the defaults without going through a knotty process.
You know, Android isn’t exclusive to a single OEM. For the same reason, the degree of personalisation vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Nonetheless, all of them allow their consumers to effortlessly change the wallpaper.
Have you ever found yourself in trouble just because you applied a new wallpaper? Yeah, it’s absurd to even think about it. But, guess what! A number of Xiaomi phone users are now going through a weird turn of events after they had put a new picture as the wallpaper
Very creepy Xiaomi Mi 9 Error
I have recently changed my phone’s wallpaper to this photo: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://i.redd.it/je65fih3f5021.png&imgrefurl=https://i.reddit.com/r/Amoledbackgrounds/comments/9zs9z9/6t_rainbow_outline_1080x2340/&h=2340&w=1080&tbnid=HPadWQ_JaGPnBM&tbnh=331&tbnw=152&usg=K_LT6h16R1DZ6hfcBplbrUZ2bb0CY=&hl=en_GB&docid=lW3GDAaAe0MvoM
As soon as I did this, the screen of my phone keeps turning ON and OFF. It keeps being on for 1 second and then turns off and turns on for 1 second and turns off, so I cannot do anything during that period. While doing this, it vibrates twice. After 5-6 times of doing this, a loading screen appears and it gives me 3 options:
Reboot: the same thing happens
Wipe Data

Can anybody help me with this error? I don’t want to wipe my phone’s data.*added: Because I really needed my phone, I ended up wiping my data. Fortunately I didn’t have anything serious*

You can see the problematic wallpaper above. Interestingly, once the Reddit post went live, many surfaced out of their cocoons to share the same story. Oddly enough, a bunch of curious people got themselves into trouble by testing whether or not the issue is real.
At this moment, the reason behind all these is just a speculation. A comment reads the bug arises as one of the bits are disrupting poorly written synchronisation algorithm (in fact, a MIUI bug). Whatever the cause is, the contagious handsets show up a screen like the image given below.
The affected units returned to the normalcy only after wiping the data. So yeah, you will have to sacrifice everything inside your phone after setting the specific image as your wallpaper. At this moment, no official clarification is available.
