Vine cofounder finally brings back ex-Twitter 6-second looping videos with stable byte app

If you have been missing looping video service Vine that Twitter killed in 2017, then there is some good news for you. Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann has finally come up with a new app, called byte, that will serve a similar purpose.

Hofmann has been teasing the new app since 2017, but the self-funded project ran into delays. Last year in April, byte entered closed beta, and now, it has finally launched on Android and iOS. The company announced the new app via a tweet.

As byte is seen as a successor to Vine, it offers similar features as well. For instance, the new app features six-second looping videos. To capture the videos, you can use your camera roll or use byte’s camera. Additionally, byte’s camera also allows you to create Vine-like stop-motion style videos.

To ensure there is no shortage of videos, the company says it would soon come up with a partner program. The program will pay the influencers for their work. For now, there are no more details about the partner program.

To use the app, Android users need to sign in with Google, while iOS users will have to use their Apple ID. Thereafter, you need to select a username and profile image.
