Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 9 & US Cellular LG G7 receives September security update

Samsung is one of the biggest players in the smartphone market. It is due to the constant efforts to bring new innovation and features to its portfolio that has led the company to stay in the hunt for the crown.

The Korean company, which previously was known for irregular updates and was badly trolled for its smartphones where issues crept up just after 6 months of purchase, is now stretching towards the right path.

However, according to a report, the Q2 2019 operating profit of Samsung was 6.6 trillion Korean won ($5.6 billion), which is down by 56% compared to Q2 2018. But on the brighter side, the company was placed in the 2nd spot under the Android version share for top 10 manufacturers for Q3 2018-Q2 2019 category by Counterpoint Research. 

This is high time for big smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, to pull their sleeves up and make their patch clear as the Android 10 is here. And reacting to this, the company has rolled out the latest September security update for the Verizon variant Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The latest update brings nothing new except the latest security patch. It carries the version number PPR1.180610.011.N960USQU2CSI1 and Android security patch level September 1, 2019. Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of the update for the Verizon Galaxy Note 9:

What’s Changing:

• The current software update provides performance improvements and the most up to date Android security patches on your device.

  

Previously, Samsung has rolled out September security patch for the Galaxy Note 9’s different variants including, AT&T, international unlocked, and Latin American. All these updates brought in major feature upgrades like improved camera performance, improvements in haptic feedback, etc.

However, this update does not seem to include any extra feature except the latest security patch. You can check for the update manually by heading to Settings>> Software Update>> Download update manually. If there is no notification for a new update then you need to have patience and let the update arrive in your region.

In a recent development, LG which is slowly diminishing from the smartphone market has also rolled out the September security update for the US Cellular LG G7 (LMG710VM) device. Note that the Android 9 Pie update was rolled out in July for the US Cellular LG G7 and this update bumps the security patch level to September 2019.

Talking about the update, it carries the version number G710VMX20d and as per the update log, there is nothing new except the September patch. Below you can check out the changelog of the update:

Note that the update has been rolled out via OTA in batches and would take time to reach to your devices. However, if you have not received the OTA Update notification, just go to your device Settings > General > About phone > Update Center > System update > Check for update to check for it manually.
