[Update: Released] Verizon Samsung Galaxy A50 One UI 2.5 update allegedly delayed, support says expect it between January 2nd & 8th

Samsung began seeding the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy A50 towards the middle of December, starting with a few Asian countries.

Cut to now, the update is already live in most regions the device is sold in and a few carriers such as US Cellular have also rolled out the new firmware for the device.

Unfortunately, some Galaxy A50 owners aren’t all that lucky since they haven’t received the update yet and users with the Verizon models are part of them.

Earlier, we had reported that Verizon support confirmed that the carrier will begin pushing the One UI 2.5 update for the Samsung Galaxy A50 in December itself.

However, we’ve crossed over to January 2021 and Verizon Samsung Galaxy A50 owners are yet to get the Android 10-based One UI 2.5 skin.

Now, thanks to one of our readers, we’ve got some important details to share regarding the upcoming software update.

As per an alleged screenshot of a conversation with Verizon support, it appears that there was an “unexpected delay” with the software update which is why Verizon did not seed it in December.

We’ve shared the screenshot below for reference:

Luckily, the Verizon support agent also confirmed that the carrier will begin rolling out One UI 2.5 for the Samsung Galaxy A50 between January 2 to January 8.

This means that users may have to wait just a bit more than a week before Verizon pushes the new skin for the device.

We will continue to keep track of the availability of One UI 2.5 for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy A50 and will post an update once it goes live.

Having said that, Galaxy A50 users can now look forward to receiving the update to Android 11 which brings the One UI 3.0 skin.

At present, the update appears to be in internal testing since Android 11 test builds have started popping up for the device. More on that here.

03:15 pm (IST): It appears that Verizon has finally started pushing the One UI 2.5 update to the Samsung Galaxy A50 units in the U.S. An individual has confirmed receiving the update via a post on Reddit.
