New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 22, 2020) follows:

The Samsung Galaxy A50 was one of the most popular mid-rangers from the South Korean giant last year. The device offered decent specifications at a relatively competitive price in some regions.

It launched with Android 9 Pie on board along with Samsung’s One UI skin and recently picked up the One UI 2.5 update that is based on Android 10 in India and Sri Lanka first.

Like most other Android updates, this too is a staggered rollout meaning that it will take a few weeks for the software to go live in all regions across the globe where the device is sold.

That said, a new development indicates that the One UI 2.5 update is currently being tested for the US Cellular Samsung Galaxy A50 models in the U.S.

A new build has been spotted for the Galaxy A50 on SamMobile which has the PDA version A505USQU9CTL1 and CSC version A505UOYN9CTL1. Given that the latest official build for this model is BTJ7, it’s likely that the CTL1 build carries a major update, i.e., One UI 2.5.

Of course, we will only know for sure once the update goes live, however, if past trends are to be considered, it’s more than likely that the CTL1 build for the US Cellular Samsung Galaxy A50 carries the One UI 2.5 update.

Since One UI 2.5 has already begun rolling out for the device, users in the U.S. should not have to wait much longer for Samsung or carriers to begin seeding the update in the country.

However, this isn’t the only interesting development since one of our readers has spotted another new test build via the CheckFirm app for the Samsung Galaxy A50 units from Verizon.

This time around, the latest test firmware shows up with the build number DTL1. However, the Android version remains unknown.

Now, taking into consideration that the latest official firmware carries the build number BTJ7 for Verizon models too, it’s highly likely that this DTL1 build could be based on Android 11 with the One UI 3.0 skin.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, we must point out that this information must be taken with a pinch of salt since nothing here is official. Instead, these speculations are based on past trends as we mentioned earlier.

Moreover, according to official software update plans for most regions, the Samsung Galaxy A50 is expected to bag the stable Android 11 update alongside One UI 3.0 in April or May next year.

So Samsung Galaxy A50 users still have a long wait ahead before they receive the One UI 3.0 update based on Android 11. As for One UI 2.5, we expect the update to go live sooner rather than later in other regions.

Having said that, you can check out our dedicated trackers for the One UI 2.5 and One UI 3.0 updates to know more about the rollout status and other details.
