Looks like the Big Red was in a mood to upgrade most of the Apple devices – be it iPhones, iPads and Watch Series – in one go, that’s why today Verizon has bumped the latest iOS and watchOS updates to about 30 Apple devices (big number, right?). In fact, the patches should be rolling out as I write this.
For a quick reminder, in the last week of August, Apple released iOS 12.4.1 to fix up the vulnerability which made it possible to jailbreak some of the recent iPhone devices running iOS 12.4 – a bug that was reported by Google’s Project Zero team.
Alongside iOS 12.4.1, watchOS 5.3.1 and macOS Mojave 10.14.6 were also pushed by the company. As is often the case with carriers, they take their time to evaluate the update and release it to devices on their network. Verizon is done with that and is now pushing the updates to multiple Apple devices.
The list of Apple iPad devices (14 in total) on Verizon network getting the iOS 12.4.1 update include iPad (9.7 inch), iPad (6th Gen.) 9.7-inch, iPad Air & Air 2, iPad Air (3rd Gen.), iPad mini 3 & 4, iPad mini (7.9-inch), iPad mini with Retina display, iPad Pro (9.7 inch), iPad Pro 10.5 inch, Pro 11 inch, Pro 12.9 inch and 12.9 inch 3rd Generation.
Along with that, 14 iPhone devices that are being upgraded to the latest iOS 12.4.1 are iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8+, iPhone SE, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
That’s not all. Apple Watch series 3 and Watch series 4 on Verizon network are also being bumped to watchOS 5.3.1. So the party is on for lots of users with Apple devices on Verizon.
It goes without saying airborne updates may not hit all devices at the same time. So some of you may have to wait more than others for that notification to pop-up on your screen. Happy installing to all!
