New updates are being added at the bottom of this story……. Original story (published on February 14, 2020) follows:

LG started testing the V50 ThinQ Android 10 update in Korea back in November 2019, but the wait for the stable version to begin rolling out went all the way to January 2020, just like the company had promised.

The initial rollout, as expected, was limited to the Korean market, but Sprint owners of the V50 ThinQ could somehow install the same firmware on their units and enjoy the goodies of Android 10 ahead of the official availability.

A couple of days ago, the stable LG V50 Android 10 update started rolling out to the Sprint variant over the air. This marked a month of waiting since the OS first hit the V50 in Korea, but not for those on carriers like Verizon Wireless.

LG V50 ThinQ Android 10 update on Sprint

The Big Red hasn’t revealed the official release date of the V50 ThinQ Android 10 update, but we have a rough idea of when the software should begin rolling out.

Going by the latest developments where the official Android 10 kernel source code for Verizon’s LG V50 ThinQ has been published on the official LG OpenSource Code Distribution website, it’s a no brainer that the update is imminent, only that we can’t tell the specific date.

Given that the update is already available for the Sprint variant, it shouldn’t take long before Verizon begins outing the V50 ThinQ Android 10 update as well. As usual, we will keep an eye on this and let you know when the OTA arrives.

When it does, it will bear software version number V20a, up from the current V10i, at least according to folks at MyLGPhones, who first stumbled upon this news.
