Android security updates are arguably the most important software updates for any smartphone than OS upgrades. Sure, OS upgrades tag along plenty of new features and changes to the UI, but security updates are what keep your device sane and data safe from hackers and other malicious activities.
One little problem, though, is that not all Android devices receive monthly security updates but others do. For instance, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 are entitled to monthly security updates, be it carrier or non-carrier models.
On the other hand, devices like the Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A10e only receive these security updates on a quarterly basis, which kind of makes it a big deal when such updates are sent their way like it’s currently happening with respect to Verizon Wireless units.
The Big Red is not only rolling out new Android security patches to the Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A10e, but also the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. All four devices are receiving last month’s security patches, which is a bit late considering the Galaxy A50 already got October security update.
If you own the Galaxy S9 purchased through Verizon Wireless, the new update is arriving as version PPR1.180610.011.G960USQU6CSI2 while the Galaxy S9+ is receiving the same update as version PPR1.180610.011.G965USQU6CSI2.
As you’d expect, the changelog for both devices’ updates is the same. Besides the new security patch, you can also expect the usual bug fixes and performance improvements after installing the new firmware.

The Galaxy A20, on the other hand, is receiving September security update as software version PPR1.180610.011.A205USQU2ASI3 while that of the Galaxy A10e is arriving as version PPR1.180610.011.A102USQU2ASI3.
The duo, like their Galaxy S9 counterparts, has the same changelog as well, tagging along system enhancements and stability improvements. Also, if you’ve been experiencing any other issues on these devices, be sure to grab this update as soon as it hits your unit.
Here is the Galaxy A20 and A10e changelog for the incoming updates:

All four devices are receiving the updates over the air, meaning it will definitely take some time before all units receive the download notification. Don’t fret, that’s the norm, but you can try forcing the OTA via the Software Update section in the Settings menu if you can’t wait.
