Earlier today, we talked about the availability of August security patch on Snapdragon Galaxy Note 9. A number of US wireless carriers are pushing the update for the phone (or should I say phablet?) right now, weeks after the unlocked global variant got the same OTA.

In a similar fashion, the Exynos powered international Galaxy S9/S9+ got the August security patches around a week ago. Samsung engineers packed some camera enhancements – at least according to the changelog – but those were not coming to US Snapdragon variants.

Matter of fact, the US carrier unlocked Galaxy S9 users are still looking for the dedicated camera night mode. While the July update did bring this long-anticipated feature to carrier branded units, every generic Snapdragon Galaxy S9 holder is craving for this functionality.

Continuing the tradition of last month, US unlocked Galaxy S9/S9+ users are now getting a new update with August security patch. The incremental OTA weighs a little more than 200 MB, while sporting the build tag CSH1.

As you can see, the bootloader version is v6 in this build, which was first appeared with the July build. Thus you can move back to the CSG4 build with July patch, but not before that.

Unfortunately camera night mode is still absent, as per the reports from Galaxy S9 owners. The Latin American Snapdragon S9/S9+ units are also receiving the same security patch albeit with a slightly different build (CSH2).

Matter of fact, Canadian carriers like Virgin Mobile, Telus and Koodo are also releasing the August update for Galaxy S9 series in batches. These phones are based on same Snapdragon 845 chipset as US Unlocked and Latin America ones, but the model number is different.

When do you think your unlocked Galaxy S9 will get the night mode feature? Comment below.
