New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
The 10th anniversary Galaxy S series marked the arrival of 5G in this critically acclaimed family of phones. The 5G edition of Galaxy S10 is modeled on top of the foundation provided by Galaxy S10+. It features a slightly larger battery (4,500 versus 4,100 mAh) to satisfy the power-hungry 5G modem.
Unlike the US models, the European variant of the 5G Galaxy S10 comes with Exynos chipset. The phone recently got October security patch via software build ASI7 – even before the regular 4G units.
Talking about the LTE-only variants, Samsung pushed the latest security patch to them a few days later. The build number is kinda different – ASII – while the changelog mentions nothing other than bumping the patch level.
Although we are mostly talking about Exynos powered models, Chinese Snapdragon Galaxy S10 units also received the update in the form of a bigger incremental OTA. US wireless carriers like Verizon or T-Mobile have yet to deliver the new patch.
Well, looks like the US carrier unlocked Galaxy S10 owners are quite lucky this time. They are reportedly receiving the October update in the form of BSIC build. FYI, they shifted from A to B branch back in August.
As you can see, the OTA (less than 200 MB) is hitting the U1 models which are not associated with any particular wireless carrier. The internal Samsung OTA tracker pages are not updated yet, but the rollout is quite broad at this moment.
Matter of fact, the backported Galaxy Note 10 specific features are still not available for the unlocked variant of Galaxy S10. The Korean OEM brought AR Doodle, Link to Windows, Dex for PC and plenty of other functionalities to the international units via last month’s update.
Guess US users need to wait for Android 10 based One UI 2.0 update to get the taste of these enhancements.
Update (November 1)
