Video sharing ain’t a new concept in the online sphere. Starting from the dedicated service, YouTube to Facebook, almost all the major social networking sites (or apps) allow their users to upload videos and leave them those for others to enjoy.
Nonetheless, TikTok could grow their service as a massive social sensation. ByteDance, the Beijing-based internet technology company behind the app thrived splendidly by allowing the users to post short videos up to 15-second duration.
TikTok came into existence in the form as we see today in 2016. And, the guys at sensortower.com has found out that 2019 was the best ever in the history of the application, both by revenue and number of users.
See? TikTok accumulated 219 million installations in the last quarter of 2019 itself. On adding the numbers in the same year, you will get over 738 million, which is the second highest for any application. Pitting against their own analytics, it is around 44% of all-time downloads.
As far as the revenue goes, they could bag 71 percent of its all-time total of $247.6 million. That’s a hefty $176.9 million in 2019. With that, ByteDance elevated TikTok to be the first among non-game applications with the highest revenue.
In case you don’t know, ByteDance has a different version called Douyin in the native country. And, the figures includes the activities pertaining to this one as well. To be specific, Chinese iOS users has spent $122.9 million that resulted in 69 percent of the whole yearly revenue.
In December, the monetary gain came close to $40 million. If the trend continues and ByteDance implements new plans, we will only see it increase this year. Surprising is the fact that the security concerns and ban by the US army didn’t affect figures!
Then again, we may see the consequences in the long run if there’re any (because the ban happened only recently). Don’t forget to check our site often so that you can keep track of what happens around TikTok.
