T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S4/S6 November patch rolling out, Verizon Galaxy Note 8 updated as well

In many countries, you get two options when buying a smartphone, carrier branded and unlocked. Although the former isn’t available everywhere in the world, it has some advantages over the latter, which you may already know.

For starters, a carrier phone only allows you to use a certain telecom operator for that particular unit. But, you won’t have to spend the entire price in one go. After paying a fraction of the actual cost, you can expend the rest in small instalments.

Apart from the availability of deferred payment, you get discounts for future purchases if you keep good credit. However, there’s no easy way out to another carrier and you may have to endure delayed updates as well.

Not just smartphones, you can also buy carrier locked tablets. In the US, Samsung Galaxy Tab is available from T-Mobile and Verizon. Speaking of tablets from the South Korean OEM, two of them just received November security updates.

The first of the duo to secure the patch was T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S4. Carrying the build number T837TUVS4BSK1, the OTA doesn’t bring anything new to the gadget except for the regular security improvements. But due to its new bootloader, downgrading isn’t possible after installation.

Two days ago, T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S6 also got the same patch. Bearing the baseband version T867USQS2ASK3, it weighs 200 MB in size. Meaning, you can finish the installation procedure even if you completely rely on the mobile data.

To recall, unlocked and the US Tab S4 got October patch by the end of the same month. When it comes to the previous update for Galaxy Tab S6, we already covered November build for Korean and Verizon variants.

Yesterday, Verizon rolled out an OTA (software version – PPR1.180610.011.N950USQU7DSK3) to Galaxy Note 8! Similar to what the T-Mobile tablet pair received, it has no new attributes to offer, just November security patch.

Strangely enough, the network had released November update in October. And according to the official website, the new overhaul (which should have carried December patch) went live yesterday, as you see on the image given above.

If you happen to own any of these devices and haven’t got the OTA notification, you need to know that it’s quite common and you shouldn’t run to the service center. Owing to the clustered roll out, units need to wait for their turns to bag the update.
