iOS and Android, the two biggest mobile operating systems today couldn’t be any different. While Android allows users to install any application they can come across with ease, the same cannot be said about iOS.

On Apple’s system, there are only two ways to install an application. First, and probably the one we all recommend, is the official App Store. If you can’t find the app on the App Store, you need to have someone sign it for you.

You can sign an app for yourself using your Apple Developer ID. This can be any Apple ID in theory. However, this signed app will only work for 7 days after which you need to pay Apple. Otherwise, you will be locked out of the app.

That is where Reprovision comes in. For jailbroken devices, Reprovision will resign an app regularly, ensuring you don’t get locked out of the app after the 7 days.

This is done automatically so you don’t ever have to do it manually with tools like Cydia Impactor and similar tools which do the same thing. You now get an idea of how important this tool is to the jailbreak community.

Recently, there were reports that Apple was killing off App signing. This broke AltStore and Reprovision for many users.

As a result, the developer pulled the plug on Reprovision, marking it as EOL (End of Life). This meant that the developer was no longer actively developing this tool. He, however, open-sourced the project meaning that the project was open to any developer who would submit a solution to the project.

Fast-forward to the present day and the previous build of Reprovision appears to be working again.

To get this build, you might want to downgrade from any newer builds you might have installed. This can be installed in Cydia by tapping “Modify” -> “Downgrade” -> “0.5~release

As the developer had wrapped up the project, he has to undo the EOL protocol he had put in place so if downgrading doesn’t work for you immediately, sit tight, a fix is coming soon.

We shall keep an eye on this and update accordingly. You can keep in touch with this here.
