Realme talks up Soloop, DocVault, Flash Tool, Pie-based Realme UI for older devices, 90Hz support in 3rd-party apps, & more

Realme and the new Realme UI update are nearly on every smartphone enthusiast’s lips in India thanks to the massive balance the company’s devices strike between price and value.

Devices like the recent Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro are a testament to this approach, packing in a bunch of top-level hardware and features yet priced at figures reflecting the bottom-end of the smartphone market segment.

One way Realme gets to ensure the brand stays afloat is through constant interaction with the fanbase, you know, much like OnePlus does with its ever-growing community across India and other regions.

In a recent Q&A session held on March 28 via the Realme Community forum, the company gave fans a listening ear as they went on to air their grievances alongside feature suggestions/requests.

Today, Realme has published a summary of the official responses to some of the important questions and pressing matters raised by fans during the Q&A session and we have a summary of the details right below.

A recent Realme 6 Pro update brought by support for Soloop and now more Realme device owners want to know if this feature will be pushed to their units.

Well, the company says Soloop will be uploaded to the App market for all Realme users very soon, be it on Realme UI or the older ColorOS 6. While at it, the company has also confirmed that DocVault will be coming to all devices with Realme UI. The rollout begins in April 2020.

To continue its impressive start to development life, Realme is also poised to provide users with a Flash Tool for, you know, quickly flashing stock ROMs to various handsets. However, there is no known release date.

Owners of the Realme X2 Pro are able to enjoy Netflix HDR+ and HDR10 content, but for some reason, the company says the standard X2 does not support both due to chipset limitations.

Granted, not even a software update can address this issue, so yeah, you’ll never get HDR+ and HDR10 on your Realme X2.

Realme UI came as part of the update to Android 10 (Q) and according to the company, this skin will not be coming to Android Pie devices that won’t be upgraded to Android 10.

For the Realme handsets that come with a 90Hz display screen, the company says it is working to enhance support for this speedy refresh rate in multiple third-party apps, although how fast this works out depends on the specific app developers.

Currently, the Realme Band has up to five watch face selections, but the company has promised to bring support for more watch faces in the future.

Realme users want the ability to create a second instance of their personal files, photos, apps, etc. on the same device, much like several other vendors are already doing. The Realme X50 Pro already supports this feature and more devices will join the party in the future.

In addition to the support for second space, Realme has also assured fans that the ability to clone third-party apps is also coming to Realme UI. At the moment, though, the feature is still under development.

For PUBG gamers interested in the support for high FPS, the company can confirm that the feature is only supported on the Realme 6 and while the Realme 6 Pro isn’t supported at the moment, the feature is still under development. Unfortunately, the Realme X2 isn’t supported.

Today, only the Realme X50 Pro is capable of zooming in when in portrait mode. However, the company says it is still exploring whether to bring this feature to other devices.

Realme says the support for screen-off display shouldn’t be expected in non-AMOLED devices owing to the negative impact such a feature would cause to these devices’ battery life.

For custom ROM developers and modders after the kernel sources for new Realme devices, the company has vowed to make the source code available within 1-2 months following the release of the devices in question.

The Q&A session also touched on the issue where the microphone icon appears in the notification panel too often in Realme UI, saying that it means some apps are using the microphone at that given moment. You can check out the rest of the details here.
