After Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, US carrier Sprint is finally pushing the monthly security patch (not the latest one though) which introduces the much-awaited Night mode camera feature to Samsung Galaxy Note 9 devices on the network. Better late than never!
Night mode (aka Nightscape, Night Sight or Bright Night) is a hyped camera feature used for shooting under low light conditions and still getting brighter pictures with less noise and blur.
As for Samsung phones, while most of the US carriers are incorporating this trending feature to their phones (through firmware updates), T-Mobile has been a bit fussy about it. TMO failed to provide Night mode to Galaxy S10 lineup (S10/S10+/S10e) in the currently circulating July OTA.
However, no such thing happened in case of Galaxy S9/S9+ or Note 9 variants on T-Mobile network.
Anyway, as of now, Sprint is pushing the July security for their Galaxy Note 9 devices. The firmware bears build number N960USQU2CSGA or N960UOYN2CSGA and weights about 700MB. While the changelog doesn’t notify about camera Night mode, user reports confirm its arrival.
At the same time, users have also confirmed VoLTE (Voice over LTE) hasn’t been included in this patch. Sad, but that’s how it currently stands. For those of you who wish to take a quick look, here’s what the actual update changelog reads:
As is usually the case with firmware updates, they are rolled out in batches, and the current patch is no different. So the OTA may take time to land on all Galaxy Note 9 units. Hang in tight!
