Reportedly, three Android devices are getting new security patches. Notably, Sprint has pushed in new security updates for its Moto Z3 Play and Essential Phone variant, while regular Moto X4 also fetches one.

Notably, the Moto Z3 Play update brings in January 2020 security patchset for the device while the Essential Phone gets updated to the February security patchset.

Let us take a look at the updates received on the devices, one by one:

Sprint Moto Z3 Play

PiunikaWeb readers should remember that earlier we have reported that the regular Moto Z3 Play got January OTA recently. In fact, this security update hints that Android 10 might not be in the cards for the device in the near future.

Now coming back to the update for the Sprint variant, it arrives with the version number PCWS29.85-36-10 and is purely incremental in nature. Below is the changelog along with the screenshot of the same:

Sprint Essential Phone

Essential Phone has been running Android 10 since last year and the company has recently announced that it is shutting down its operation. The February update which was pushed on February 3, 2020, for the regular PH-1 was the last update the device.

And now, the Sprint variant of the Essential Phone PH-1 is getting a new security update. The February 2020 security patch arrives via OTA with the version number QQ1A.200105.032.

For those who have not received the update, head over to System>>Advanced>>System update to manually check for the update.

Moto X4

The regular Motorola Moto X4 is being served with the February 2020 security patch. According to one Reddit user, the update arrives with the version number PPWS29.69-39-6-5 and is purely incremental in nature.

Keep in mind that the updates for all the devices are being pushed via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the units. Users can go ahead and manually check for it under Settings.
