Sony Xperia XA2 & Xperia L2 August security update hits units

Sony is one of the smartphone producers in the market to bring the out-of-the-box features coupled with best in segment quality. For instance, the company’s latest flagship Sony Xperia 1 features Snapdragon 855 SoC, triple rear camera setup, and first-in-segment ultra-long 21:9 cinematic display.

Sony suffers from standing out in the highly competitive market, but still, the OEM manages to provide the best quality and regular firmware updates to its flagship and mid-range devices.

Sony announced the August security patch last week to join other major smartphone makers like Oneplus, Xiaomi, Huawei and Samsung. Since then, several Sony devices have been receiving the latest security patch topped-up with additional features via OTA updates.

Japanese OEM’s Sony Xperia 1 & Xperia XZ2, were first-in-batch to receive the Android security patch. Later on, while focusing on the newest mid-range and flagship segment, Sony rolled out the updates for Sony Xperia 10 series, Sony Xperia XZ3 along with Sony XA1 Plus.

And now, the company is pushing new update to two of its mid-range smartphones, Sony Xperia XA2 & Xperia L2. And these updates bring the latest Android security patch to the devices.

For your information, Sony Xperia XA2 is the company’s mid-range series smartphone, which was released last year. The phone features Snapdragon 630 processor, single-rear camera setup carrying 23MP sensor, and Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box.

New Android 9.0 Pie-based update on Sony Xperia XA2 bumps the version from 50.2.A.0.379 to 50.2.A.0.400, and also brings the latest August Android security patch update.

Sony Xperia L2, is another device in the mid-range segment which left the factory with Mediatek MT6737T, Android Nougat, is getting Android 7.1.1 based security patch. The currently circulating update bumps the version from 49.0.A.6.80 to 49.0.A.6.90 and brings nothing but the latest Android security patch.

Users on Twitter have confirmed the arrival of the new security patch update to both of the devices.

Well, if you own any of the devices, you can check your device for the update. If you haven’t received any notification for the update, be patient, as Sony (like other OEMs) releases over-the-air updates. And therefore, it may take some time to roll out on every unit.

And yes, don’t hesitate to mention any issues, if at all you face any after upgrading to the latest patch.
