A quick look at the official Samsung Android security updates scope reveals that both the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy M30 are among the devices that receive quarterly security updates from the company.
This means that security updates won’t be as frequent as on the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy S10 or even the aging Galaxy S9 and Note 9. This also means that whenever a new update is pushed to the Galaxy J6 or Galaxy M30, it should always be something to smile about.
If you own either of the two devices, that is, the Galaxy J6 or Galaxy M30, you have one big reason to smile about as I write this. This is especially true for the aging Galaxy J6, which has been around since May 2018.
The J6 is receiving a new software update that installs the latest September 2019 security patch as version J600FXXU5BSH5. The changelog also mentions improved overall stability of functions, much like the version that brought the outgoing June security patch.
Ever since the Pie update arrived on the J6 back in April, this is only the second software update the device is receiving. So, yea, it’s definitely something to smile about despite the lack of new features.
The story is quite relatable for Galaxy M30 owners. Sure, the device isn’t as old as the Galaxy J6, but it suffers from the same software update deficiency as the J6. For instance, this is only the third OS update for model SM-M305M since launch.
The new update is arriving as version M305MUBU2BSH4 and as per the changelog, the only change it brings is the new September security patch, but of course, the usual bug fixes and performance improvements are also included.
So far, the Galaxy M30 September patch has been confirmed for the Brazilian market, but since the model SM-M305M is sold in the wider South American region, more countries should receive the update pretty much right now or this week for that matter.
Both Galaxy J6 and Galaxy M30 updates are airborne and as usual with such updates, it may take a few days before all units receive the download notification, so stay patient as you wait. Alternatively, you can force the update via the Settings menu of your device.
