The past two beta programs for Android OS iterations have seen the number of devices participating in the program expand beyond the Google realm and into little-known territories like Realme and Tecno Mobile, but Samsung has participated in none of them.
As a leading smartphone vendor, it wouldn’t hurt to throw a device or two into the program, but Samsung prefers to do things its way, for how long it remains to be seen.
With Google having already pushed the stable update to Android 10, Samsung still doesn’t have an idea when it’ll begin rolling out the OS. Sure, we do know of reports that first popped out in July pointing to Android 10-based builds for the Galaxy S10.
In August, we reported about the compatibility of Samsung Pay with Android Q beta, something that outrightly implied that Samsung was readying its apps to work on Android 10-powered devices.
Not long ago, we also highlighted what T-Mobile is already doing with respect to Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 updates to Android 10. All these point to a Samsung that is working hard to ready the updates to Android 10 sooner than Pie arrived, but the company is still struggling.
Just like the GoPro app that isn’t compatible with Android 10, Samsung has also confirmed that the Galaxy Wearable app isn’t ready for use on devices powered by the latest and greatest from Google.
Affected users have been airing their grievances in the Samsung community following the update to Android 10, which is currently limited to the Google Pixels, Essential Phone, and a surprise phone.
After my Pixel 2 updated to Android 10 yesterday, the Galaxy Wearable App crashes when opening. It will open, but goes frozen for about 5 seconds, then instantly closes. I use it with my 42mm Galaxy Watch.

I updated my Google pixel 3 to Android 10 yesterday. Since then I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my Gear S3. The Galaxy Wearables app is useless, it crashes right after opening, and is a battery drain on my phone.

Not even clearing the data and cache of the Galaxy Wearable app solves this problem nor does other attempts at uninstalling and reinstalling the app or factory resetting the Galaxy Watch. So don’t even think about either if you are also affected.
But as noted earlier, Samsung has already confirmed that this issue has nothing to do with your Watch but the Galaxy Wearable app itself. Apparently, Samsung will make this app compatible with Android 10 when it releases the One UI 2.0 update to the Galaxy phones.
At this time, the wearables app is not compatible with Android 10 (Q). Once Samsung devices start getting Android 10 (Q), the various apps will also update compatibility. Regretfully I cannot speculate on when that might happen though. I am sorry for the inconveniences caused.
Still, it’s not cool that Android Q beta has been here for months yet Samsung hasn’t readied its apps to work with Android 10 at launch. When exactly Samsung will begin updating its devices to Android 10 is still unknown even to the Samsung community moderators.
