Samsung QLED Smart TV (2020) poor picture quality (motion judder) issue yet to be addressed months after acknowledgement

Samsung has been a prominent player in the TV-making business for years and is known to make top-of-the-line QLED and OLED TVs.

However, not all things can be perfect and it seems like some buyers are noticing quality issues with their Samsung QLED Smart TV (2020) models.

Since September 2020, hundreds of users have reported motion judder/stutter when watching direct TV content like football, golf, and other TV programs.

The company remained silent for a few weeks but, in October 2020, finally acknowledged the Samsung QLED TV motion judder issue.

It is interesting to note that most people who are frustrated by the stuttering either live in the UK or watch 50Hz channels such as SkyTV. The issue is not present when watching videos on apps like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon.

Samsung then released the 2014.1 firmware for the QLED TV 2020 lineup, which supposedly fixed the problem for some, but the motion judder still was there for most users.

Fast forward to July 2021, users are flooding the forums again and complaining that the problem hasn’t been fixed yet. A Twitter user even shared an alleged screenshot of an email from Samsung wherein the company confirmed that they’re working on a fix.

However, Samsung hasn’t provided any timeline on said anything when the problem will be fixed.

What it means is that Samsung QLED TV owners with the 2020 models will have to live with motion judder and sub-standard picture quality for the next few weeks or even months.

In the meantime, some users have come up with a workaround and suggest that you watch the programs in Game Mode. While doing this eliminates the motion judder, it results in inferior picture quality since Game Mode is not made for TV channels.

We hope Samsung fixes the problem as soon as possible since the QLED TVs are their premium offerings.
