[Updated] Samsung NavStar for Galaxy Note 10 series to arrive with early April software update

Samsung Good Lock first arrived in 2016 with the launch of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. These two have since been succeeded four times, the latest courtesy of the new and shiny Galaxy S20 series, so you can only imagine how far Good Lock has come.

At first, Good Lock was meant to hand the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem a chance to try new features from the future ahead of their official availability. But it has since evolved to become one of the best customization tools for Galaxy smartphones.

Like every other Samsung application, the Good Lock app has to be updated to support every other new version of the good Android OS that Google releases.

It’s not long ago that the app gained support for the latest Android 10, which comes with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 flavor on top. Dubbed Good Lock 2020, the update not only comes with improvements to the app itself, but also shines more light on the modules it bundles.

For some reason, though, many who received the Good Lock 2020 update said that Samsung NavStar wasn’t working, something the devs promised to address in a March 2020 update.

The story was also the same with LockStar, but this has since been addressed via a software update to the module. Matter of fact, Samsung has also rolled out the promised March update for NavStar as version 2.0, tagging along support for Android 10 devices.

However, there is still something missing for some devices, more so the Galaxy Note 10 series. The changelog for the latest Samsung NavStar update does mention that Note 10 units will only be supported after a software update.

Since the Note 10 series has already been updated to March 2020 security patch, the only other option is to bring support for NavStar with the April security update. And indeed, this is the information we are getting from Samsung Korea community forums.

When translated, the screengrab above reveals that the said software update required to enable support for Samsung NavStar on the Galaxy Note 10 series will be released in early April.

Also around the corner, although not necessarily in April, is an update to One UI 2.1 for the Note 10 family. For the uninitiated, this is the One UI version that runs on top of Android 10 in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Flip and yeah, it has some new features to look forward to over One UI 2.0.
