Lately, our smartphones are getting bigger and bigger with each generation. Granted, bezels are also shrinking but our screens are now too big to be comfortably used in one hand.

We have seen many gesture controls to help us navigate using one hand. Some shrink down the UI to a portion of the screen to facilitate single thumb operations and more.

Samsung’s solution has been the ability to swipe down anywhere on the home screen to pull down the notification shade. That has worked well, especially considering Samsung has rather big display-phones.

Sadly, users have been having issues using this very important gesture in the operation of their Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 10 and Note 9 devices. This has been occasioned after the update to Android 10.

A quick scroll through the forums and you are bound to come across dozens of users who are unable to use the “Swipe down for Notifications” feature.

The notification panel stopped coming down while swiping down anywhere on the screen. Will come down the traditional way. Check settings to see if it was changed somehow & it’s not. I also tried multiple restarts.

On the One UI launcher, I would always have “Swipe down for Notifications” enable as I hate to have to reach to top of device to see them, now after official Android 10 OneUI 2.0 update that feature is broken. Have rebooted, cleared caches, cleared storage and force closed launcher to no avail

Luckily, there might be a workaround. According to some users, the trick to fixing this lies within the GoodLock app.
