[US unlocked too] Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, & S10+ October security update rolling out in multiple markets

Hot on the heels of revealing its plans for the upcoming One UI 2.0 beta program for the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10+, Samsung is now rolling out the latest Android security updates for these three devices in multiple markets across Europe.

After months of waiting, Samsung has finally announced that Android 10 beta is coming soon to the three variants of the Galaxy S10 in Korea, but it didn’t give a specific date.

The Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy Note 10 duo miss out on the first batch. Although the former will get to join the party at a later date that will be announced by the company, there is still no word on when the Note 10 and Note 10+ will join the beta program, but they should at some point.

To further flex its muscles, Samsung is now rolling out the latest October 2019 security patch to the Galaxy S10 series a day after Google released it to the Pixels.

If you thought this is better from Samsung, you’ll be impressed to know that the Galaxy A50 got its October update on the last day of September. Also, the new patch has been pushed to other Samsung devices like the Galaxy A30, Tab S4, A20e, and the premium Galaxy S10 5G and Note 9.

The Galaxy S10 trio becomes the third high-profile Samsung smartphones to grab the new October security update. The update is arriving on model SM-G970F for the S10e, SM-G973F for the standard S10, and SM-G975F for the Plus variant. The new software build number is ASII.

Apparently, the new October security update is also rolling out to the Snapdragon variants of the Galaxy S10 series. Reports by some Redditors using the Hong Kong (Snapdragon) version of the S10 and S10+ point to significantly heavier updates compared to the European (Exynos) update.

In Europe, the update weighs in at about 115MB while the Hong Kong update weighs over 1.2GB on the S10 and 658MB on the S10+. Apparently, it includes some unnamed new photo features as well.

The U.S. variants also come with a Snapdragon SoC, but their update to October security patches may take some time to arrive because of carrier delays. That aside, Samsung is really stepping up its software updates game and hopefully we get to see this same energy with future Android OS updates.
