In recent past, the Android community experienced two of the major smartphone OEMs to release huge camera oriented software updates. One of them was OnePlus, and the Chinese phone maker tried to address most if not all shortcomings of the OnePlus 7 Pro camera with the latest OTA.

The changelog is pretty intense, isn’t it?

The other one was Samsung, who brought numerous under the hood changes in the camera stack of the (international) Galaxy S10 – especially with the low light photography domain. The initial version of the update (ASE5) was buggy, and was later replaced by ASE6/ASE7, which further improved the camera.

As a matter of fact, the hints about the arrival of the highly anticipated ‘Night mode’ in Galaxy S10 lineup were discovered by the Samsung community members by decompiling the stock camera app.

Scratched the apk now from the asd1 firmware. Separately, there is a night shooting mode. There’s also a detailed description of “Make brighter and clearer images in low light without flash.” So the night mode to be. And also in addition: shooting under water, shooting fast moving objects and shooting in the fog.

Now that the ‘Night mode’ is officially available on the Exynos powered Galaxy S10 models, XDA member daoudedy has gone one step further and modded the camera features to unlock new modes. The complete list of features is as follows:

1 – Shooting method:
– Aqua
– Sports
– Anti Fog

2 – Manual Scene
– Manually choose between Scene Optimizer scenes

3 – SuperSlowMo Multi Take
– Take multiple Super Slow Motion Videos on the go inside a single video

4 – Enable HRS capture
– Use the Heart Rate Sensor to capture selfies

5 – Live Focus Dual Capture
– Capture single Live Focus photo with multiple sensors

The mod requires a rooted Galaxy S10 as you need to replace the camera-feature.xml inside /system/cameradata. Both the original and modified xml can be downloaded from this link.

US Galaxy S10 models are not supported, as they can’t be rooted at this moment due to the locked bootloader. Head over to the support thread in XDA if you have any query and/or suggestion regarding this mod.
