Samsung is pushing out updates for many of its older generation smartphones. Previously, users of Samsung had a perception that the company invests more time in future devices than its older devices. Which became one of the main reasons for receiving so much flak from its users.
But, as they say, its better late than never, and Samsung seems to follow the same way and this year has been quite eventful for the company. They released their top of the line two flagships series i.e. the Galaxy S10 and the Note 10 series smartphones.
Previous to that, they came up with the Galaxy M-series and the totally new and revamped Galaxy A-series smartphones. Moreover, it seems that the company has decided to cover all its bases before moving forward with Android 10 and One UI 2.0.
It is also clear from the Android security update cycle plan of Samsung, where a lot of older generation smartphones are also slated to get security updates. Moreover, Samsung has also been one of the top brands under the Android version share for top 10 manufacturers for Q3 2018-Q2 2019 category according to a report by Counterpoint Research:
The data shows that almost 89% of Samsung smartphones are running the Android 9 Pie. This is an impressive number and quite the achievement that Samsung would want to retain and improve further.
And in line with this, recently, Samsung has rolled out new updates for the Samsung On7 Prime & J7 Pro. The update brings in the latest September and August 2019 security patch, respectively for both the devices.
Note that the Samsung On7 Prime is a rebranded version of the Galaxy J7 Prime 2. Talking about the update received on the device, it brings in the bloatware ShareChat along with the security patch. It carries the version number G611FDDUCSI1 /G611FODD1CSI1/ G611FDDU1CSH4 and weighs 335.94MB in size.
