T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S10 August security update rolls out with Night mode; Galaxy J8 gets July patch

T-Mobile is rolling out a new Samsung Galaxy S10 software update that many on the Magenta carrier have been looking forward to ever since the device arrived in Q1 2019.

Months after the international variants of the S10 series and even older models like the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 got the dedicated Night mode in the camera app, this feature is finally available on T-Mobile variants.

Following in the footsteps of other major names in the smartphone industry, Samsung also decided to give the S10 camera a nice touch in the shape of Night mode. This feature is meant to improve Galaxy S10 photography in poorly-lit conditions, something many will welcome.

Rolling out over the air, the update is arriving as version G970USQS2BSGJ on the Galaxy S10e, version G973USQS2BSGJ on the standard S10, and version G975USQS2BSGJ on the Plus variant.

On T-Mobiles website, the firmware version and changelog provided for August security patch are a little different. The version with the dedicated camera night mode seems to be newer, but there is still no mention of the dedicated camera night mode in the over 600MB update.

However, folks over at Reddit can confirm that this update actually adds night mode to the camera app.

Also receiving a new software update is the Galaxy J8 Infinity (SM-J810G) in India. The update, unlike the Galaxy S10, installs an older July security patch to this device, which is a little strange considering that elsewhere models SM-J810Y and SM-J810M are receiving August patches.

The J8 Infinity’s update weighs over 390MB and has software version J810GDDU3BSH3, implying that there is more than just the typical security patch.

Both updates are airborne, meaning it may take some days before all T-Mobile Galaxy S10 and Galaxy J8 Infinity units receive the download notification. So hang in tight!
