New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 11, 2019) follows:

Benchmarking platform AnTuTu recently published its list of best-performing flagship Android phones for November 2019 and top of the list is the gaming-centric Asus ROG Phone 2.

Considering you get up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage allied to an even more superior Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC and complemented by a unique three-layer cooling system, it’s easy to see why the ROG Phone 2 scored an average of 496,662 points on Antutu.

Sure, these figures are mouthwatering, but they don’t make the ROG Phone II a perfect phone. Owners have been experiencing several issues since it arrived a few months ago and even though Asus has been fixing some of them, more keep popping up.

The latest to show up is the unresponsive touch issue after the most recent update. Apparently, the touch does respond when unlocking the screen but once unlocked, it becomes unresponsive.

Me too. Fingerprint scanner unresponsive and in Settings under Security and Lock Screen, there is no Fingerprint option.

Same here..having unresponsive touch after unlocking the phone which is in locked state…this is happening randomly and not able to reproduce at will….this only happened after the latest update…
Source

Same issue, no response when phone is in a locked state. Turning down to 90hz seems to have helped but obviously not a permanent solution.
Source

As you can see from the last comment above, someone says switching from 120Hz to 90Hz should alleviate the problem. Someone else also claims this issue could be related to face unlock and that disabling the biometric authentication feature fixes it.

I guess, screen freeze happen only with face unlock. I removed face unlock two days back to test it. Seems, i dont see this issue again. Now i use only fingerprint lock. Could you all try removing face unlock and check whether you still have issues?

But this solution doesn’t fix the problem for some, so we’ll have to wait for something from Asus. Matter of fact, a company rep claims they’ve addressed a related issue in a software update that is coming soon, although there is no mention of when it will arrive.

In addition to introducing the unresponsive touch screen issue, the most recent ROG Phone 2 software update also fixed a bunch of AirTrigger issues from the previous update. But going by the latest developments, it seems Asus still has a lot more to do.

When I’m using air trigger, i found out that even when i press the screen or back side near the air trigger, it gets triggered. DowsDoes anyone face the same problem ( sensitivity is set to around 1 to 3. Please help me because if I’m only having this problem, i can replace it.

The above statement was made in the ZenTalk forums back in October and despite the recent update that came with several AirTrigger-centric fixes, new cases of the same AirTrigger issues are beginning to show up.

I’m having the same problem for my right trigger (red) I am already using the latest firmware. Tried resetting the force, turning on or off sensitivity booster, restarting the phone. Really hope this is not a hardware issue. I’ve never dropped my phone.

Same issue. Please let me know guys if this is really a hardware issue. Already gave my phone to the service centre but they couldn’t fix it either.
Source

The above comment was made early this week and apparently, this particular ROG Phone 2 owner claims to have already taken the phone to a repair center but the issue couldn’t be fixed. Could it be a hardware problem?

Well, according to a company rep, the latest AirTrigger woes could be hardware-related. Granted, affected ROG Phone 2 owners may have to send the device back for repair since no amount of software updates will be able to fix it.

If you can live with a workaround, someone says setting the trigger level to 9 should help temporarily address the issue.

Update (December 25)

The infamous unresponsive touch issue on ROG Phone 2 is allegedly fixed by Asus in the latest software update. Details here.
