Xiaomi has been doing pretty good when it comes to pushing out regular and timely updates to its devices. We have seen many of the company’s devices from the past 2 years or so, get updated to Android 10, or to its latest skin, MIUI 11.

However, there are still some devices that are yet to be updated and users are getting on edge about when their devices are likely to get updated to Android 10. Take the Redmi Note 8 and its beefier brother, the Redmi Note 8T.

Launched back in November 2019 for the Redmi Note 8T and August 2019 for the Redmi Note 8, both devices ran Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 11 out-of-the-box. Since then, Redmi Note 8 and 8T users have been awaiting an Android 10 build for their devices but kept getting treated to regular monthly security updates.

It seems as though these users have to wait on a little longer because there still isn’t an Android 10 build for their devices. Instead, we have yet another monthly security patch. This time, the March 2020 update.

For the Redmi Note 8T, the update brings a lot more than just a bump in the Android security patch level, as demonstrated in the following Changelog.

Changelog:
System
Updated Android Security Patch to March 2020. Increased system security.

App lock
New: App lock is supported for all apps now
New: Revamped the start page and optimized some features

For the Redmi Note 8, the changelog indicates that the update also packs a little more than just the March Android security patch update. Below is the changelog for the Redmi Note 8.

Changelog:
