New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 27, 2019) follows:
The Redmi Note 8 hasn’t been around for long. The phone was first unveiled in China back in August but has since found its way to multiple markets across the globe, including India and Indonesia.
While the rest of the Redmi Note 8 fraternity got their MIUI 11 update a few days ago, those in India and Indonesia were made to watch in agony, but this painful experience ends today.
Reports just coming in can confirm that the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 11 update has finally landed in India and Indonesia. Whereas the update weighs in at 664MB in the former market, the latter’s OTA weighs in at 660MB.
Indian Redmi Note 8 users are receiving the update as MIUI 11.0.1.0.PCOINXN while those in Indonesia are getting it as version 11.0.1.0.PCOIDXM. Both updates are still based on Android 9 Pie, but the Note 8 should receive Android 10 at some point.
In fact, its Pro counterpart has already started testing a beta version of MIUI 11 that is based on Android 10, a clear indicator that Xiaomi has plans to push the new OS to the devices in the coming weeks.
In addition to the novelties that come with MIUI 11, the new Redmi Note 8 MIUI 11 update also bundles the latest security patch for the month of November 2019 in both countries. In comparison, other regions got their MIUI 11 updates bundled with October patch.
By now, you probably know a thing or two about OTA updates. Usually, they can take days before hitting all units, but if you own the Redmi Note 8 in India or Indonesia, you can pick the new firmware below and install it manually rather than wait for the download notification.
