It is that time of the year where devices from different OEMs will be flooded with new updates, be it security or firmware updates. Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi is also not too far behind.

We have posted quite a number of posts revolving around the rollout of MIUI 11 for various Xiaomi devices. And amidst this, the Chinese OEM has also pushed security updates as well.

And in a recent development, the December security patch is up for grabs for the global and Russian users of the Mi Play. Not only this, but a bugfix update is also available for the Redmi K20 Pro and that too for Chinese users.

Let us take a look at the updates received on the devices, in more detail.

Redmi K20 Pro

To recall, a few days ago, Redmi K20 Pro grabbed the November 2019 security update along with a truckload of bug fixes in India.

And this new update carries version number V11.0.5.0.QFKCNXM and weighs in about 2.5GB in size. It is bringing in more fixes for the device, for instance, bug fixes for lock screen, notification bar, data usage and more.

As already mentioned the update is available for Chinese users. Below is the official changelog along of this latest update:

Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade
– Fix: Couldn’t open notification settings in the Notification shade in Second space
– Fix: Couldn’t open the Notification shade in some cases

Data usage
– Fix: Items related to exceptions weren’t always displayed accurately
– Fix: Searching for apps made the device slow down

Other
– Fix: Images overlapped in scrolling screenshots

Mi Play

Mi Play is also grabbing a new update and that too the latest December 2019 security patchset. Notably, the update is for global and Russian users.

PiunikaWeb reader must know that the Mi Play was served with the MIUI 11 update with October patch back in November which was based on Android 8.1.

Cut to now, this new December security update arrives with version number V11.0.2.0.OFIMIXM for global users while Russian users are getting the update with version V11.0.2.0.OFIRUXM.

Matter of fact, the update also tags along with some optimization for the system clock as well. Below is the official changelog:
