Chinese smartphone manufacturers have totally dominated the global market share and when we talk about India, Xiaomi came on top. For the 7th consecutive quarters, Xiaomi has topped the rankings of being the number 1 smartphone brand in India.

According to research by IDC (International Data Corporation), Xiaomi took lead over smartphone giants like Samsung and Vivo in India. The Chinese Smartphone giant, Xiaomi saw growth by 4.8% YoY in 2019 with the Redmi 6A and Note 7 Pro being the highest shipped devices. Not only this, Xiaomi maintained its dominance in the online market as well with a 46.5% share and 39.5% offline shipments in 2019.

Very recently, Global VP and MD of Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain tweeted stating that Xiaomi crossed the mark of selling 100 million smartphones in a span of five years in India.

When it comes to rolling out software updates for its smartphones, Xiaomi is doing all in its power to leave a mark here as well. In a research by Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi was placed 3rd in the rankings in pushing out security and firmware updates. It is only behind smartphone manufacturers like Nokia and Samsung (1st and 2nd position in the ranking, respectively).

Keeping up with the pace, the company recently has pushed out the latest September 2019 security update for the Redmi Go smartphone. For a refresher, the Redmi Go was launched in February this year which is a budget device and packs in features like 8MP camera and runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition.

Apart from this, the device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8/16GB of internal storage. Under the hood, the device packs in a 3000 mAh battery and features a 5 MP selfie camera in the front. Now in the display department the device sports a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720×1280.

Talking about the update it carries the build number V10.2.14.OCLMIXM and weighs around 177.6MB in size. The update will not be heavy on your data pack or WiFi connection but we would recommend you to download it on a stable network.

Note that the update is rolled out via OTA and in batches. So, it will take some time to reach to your device and your region. However, you can always go ahead to Settings>>System Update>>Check for updates to check for the update manually on your Redmi Go device. If there is any notification for a new update, tap on it to install.
