BREAKING: Redmi 8 MIUI 11 update re-released as the first build pulled back (Download links inside)

The long-anticipated MIUI 11 update brought the taste of Android 10 for phones like Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro. However, legacy phones, such as Mi Max 2, failed to attract the same level of importance. As a result, they are stuck with older Android version along with historic security patches.

Moreover, the Chinese OEM had to push new builds of MIUI 11 for a handful of devices days after rolling out the initial stable updates. The list is quite long in fact; it contains current-gen phones like the Mi 9 Lite as well as 2018’s Redmi Y2/S2.

Both Redmi Note 7/7S and Redmi Note 5 Pro even picked up November security patches, thanks to the revised MIUI 11 saga. Well, another Redmi phone now joins the club. Presenting, none other than Redmi 8.

Thanks to the internal similarities, both Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A received the so called ‘stable’ version of MIUI 11 little more than a week ago. Xiaomi even published the kernel source code for the device duo, albeit there is no sign of Android 10 yet.

Interestingly, only the Indian variant of Redmi 8/8A got the MIUI 11 update back then. While other regional models are running MIUI 10 till date, Xiaomi has quietly rolled back the first build for Redmi 8 (V11.0.1.0.PCNINXM) and replaced it with a new update (V11.0.2.0.PCNINXM).

Thing is, the Chinese units of Redmi 8 is also receiving the MIUI 11 update via an equivalent build (V11.0.2.0.PCNCNXM). However, there is no change in the security patch level; still no November patch.

Another anomaly is related to Redmi 8A, as the cheaper variant is expected to get a similar new build simultaneously. We are unable to find anything related so far. Nonetheless, the internal changelog of the new build for Redmi 8 is as follows:
