Realme XT is one of the most recent additions to the growing list of Realme smartphones. Announced several weeks ago, the Realme XT received its first software update in mid-September meant to improve performance, security, as well as fix existing bugs.

The most recent Realme XT software update is perhaps the most feature-packed the device has received since launch. The major highlight of the update is, of course, the system-wide dark mode.

The update comes after the device joined the ColorOS beta program that is reportedly expected to bring Android 10 to the XT. The Oppo subsidiary has also opened the doors to modding with the device’s bootloader now able to be unlocked.

Besides the system-wide dark mode, the recent Realme XT update also brought another new feature in the shape of wide-angle video recording. Using the phone’s 8MP ultra-wide lens, you can record wide-angle videos of up to 119 degrees.

The Realme XT also has a 2MP lens dedicated to macro photography alongside a 2MP depth sensor and the standard 64MP shooter. Now, in a new post seeking and responding to feedback regarding the performance of the latest update, the company has come out to respond to several concerns.

Reddish issue in the main camera to be fixed in a future OTA update

Some Realme XT users have expressed concerns over a reddish tint that appears in the viewfinder of the main camera. Apparently, Realme picked up this issue a while back and has already addressed it partly, but another fix is being lined up in a future OTA update.

Question: Will the reddish issue in rear camera be fixed?

– Answer: Yes. We noticed that we have this issue in certain situations. We have already fixed part of this issue. The final improvement will be push via a future OTA.

Clarity of photos in 64MP mode

Some Realme XT users say photos captured in 64MP mode are not clear enough. And according to Realme, this is due to the lighting conditions around the sensor when taking photos. The sensor needs a lot of light to perform to the best standards.

Question: Why is my 64MP mode not clear enough?

Answer: GW 1 sensor will produce 64MP pictures in good lighting conditions. 64MP pixels need huge amount of light input, therefore using 64MP mode in extremely low light condition may not get the best results.

Macro lens won’t capture clear photos

As noted, the Realme XT has a dedicated macro camera for capturing shots at a very close range. But some say photos captured using this lens are not as clear as they would want them to be. According to Realme, the lens only focuses best at 4cm, so make sure to have hold the lens closer to the object.

Question: Why my macro lens cannot get a clear focus?

The macro lens in realme XT is a FF lens which means it focuses best at 4 cm. Please move your lens to this distance for a better focus.

EIS on wide-angle videos

Realme added the ability to shoot wide-angle videos to the XT with the recent October security update. However, some people aren’t sure whether electronic image stabilization (EIS) is supported in this mode.

Well, Realme can confirm that indeed, EIS is supported when recording videos in wide-angle mode.

Question: Is there an EIS on wide angle video?

– Answer: Yes. There is.

Whether the update addressing the reddish issue in the main camera will arrive as part of the November security patch is unknown to us, but for sure, we will keep an eye on the developments and let you know when the fix is released. Stay tuned to our Realme section.
