Original story (published on January 10, 2020) follows:

ColorOS, although developed by OPPO, can be found inside Realme phones as well. It may sound strange, but OnePlus also used this skin on their debutant device, aka the OnePlus One, albeit on the Chinese units. Despite being their relative, Vivo sticks with FuntouchOS.

Right of their inception, Realme is trying to establish a separate brand identity. The transition from ColorOS to Realme UI (stylized as ‘realme UI’) is nothing but another step towards that direction.

The OEM published a quite elaborate roadmap in November 2019 regarding their plan to ship Realme UI. In a typical tradition, they also announced a beta recruitment event before the broad scale roll out.

While the company launched Realme X50 5G with factory-installed Realme UI, they also teased about expanding the list of eligible phones (at least in China). However, their latest flagship, Realme X2 Pro, is stuck with ColorOS 7 in the beta channel for a while.

Well, the situation is improving. According to the user reports, the latest beta update (C.14) does bring Realme UI for the Snapdragon 855+ powered beast.

As you can see, this build is meant for Chinese variant of the Realme X2 Pro. We are not sure when Indian units will get the same treatment, but it is indeed a nice improvement.

Realme X2 Pro should receive the stable Android 10 update along with Realme UI in March as per the official schedule. We hope the OEM will squeeze out most of the major bugs before the rollout, cause end users are getting fed up with the botched up updates.

Update 1 (Jan 11, 2020)

Similar to Realme X2 Pro, the latest Android 10 beta update for Realme X in China brings Realme UI. Second level beta testing for both devices has been announced as well. Details here.

Update 2 (Feb 22, 2020)

The third batch of Realme X2 Pro Realme UI/Android 10 beta update is now being recruited.

Update 3 (March 03, 2020)

After successful beta testing, Realme is now looking for 3,000 owners of the Realme X2 as well as another 3,000 owners of the Realme X2 Pro to try an almost ready version of Android 10 ahead of the wider rollout later this month. Find the full details here.
